I feel this is one of my most technical pieces to date. The brooch was completely hand fabricated except for the nuts and bolts.
I really went out on a limb in the stone setting process. If you unscrew the nuts, you could actually remove the stone which is held in place by the created tension.

Love this! Interesting setting and the idea that you could change out the stone to match various outfits intrigues me.

This is simply stunning. It helps that it's my birthstone, but it's beautifully made. It sort of reminds me of a Mining Steampunk piece. Amazing!

This is very cool :D Not exactly the type of setting I would expect for a brooch, although upon considering Steampunk ways it does fit nicely. It reminds me very much of the type of setting that would be used for a jewel/gem/lens for something like a laser or perhaps a telescope or such.

What's funny about that is when I originally designed this piece it was intended to be a pendant. However, my advisor over my Master's thesis wanted a little more variety in my work since this would have been my fourth straight pendant. She suggested a brooch and I figured it out from there. Thanks a lot for the comment!
